[Startups: Radial Medical]THE STRUGGLE IS REAL!

In the Silicon Valley every startup company has drama. Not to say there is none whatsoever is an insult.

There are many moving pieces to get to the goal. It takes the right combination of team members, timing, hard work, due diligence, luck and most importantly investors. The last one is especially important and one I would like to emphasize greatly… Aside from all the great progress in the product, there needs to be a continuous amount of investment to take it to the end. That’s the stretch… That’s the risk… That’s the last 10% and 90% where it all comes together. Taking risk is what it’s all about in the Valley and many great things we take for granted are because of risks taken with huge return. But in the board meetings between the investors and the founders… Expectations can make or break a company.

If I take the investors word I hear: blah blah…
If I take my CEO side I hear: blah blah…
If I take my coworker opinion I hear: blah blah…
And me: What’s the problem again?

It’s really hard to tell. Sometimes it’s not anyone’s fault. Stuff happens…

I’m not sure anymore, but we as small promising startup company are officially in limbo…

So much accomplished… In such a short time… Especially in Medical Devices… 4ish years. Headcount less that 10. Two FDA clearances. Three IEC certifications. ISO certification. On going clinical trials with promising results and happy patients…

The company has now downsized and I’m still on retainer, but it’s hard to contemplate where to go next and the motivation to move forward…

I sacrificed a lot to get to this point, held many hats, worked everyday, grew tremendously as a professional, dealt with the non-stop fires and putting them out and even came back to the company twice?

This is the world we live in the Valley for a select few of us that dare to push the limit and take the risk…
You have to be Crazy to be here…
Maybe I’m all of the above…

Merry Christmas…
